Several Hollywood celebrities are playing poker for a worthy cause this weekend
An online charity poker tournament is getting underway today, bringing together a number of A-listers from Hollywood and the sports world. The event is being sponsored by AmericasCardroom.eu, and was created to raise funds to provide relief from the coronavirus pandemic. So far, the tournament has drawn celebrities such as Ben Affleck, Tom Brady, Adam Sandler and more. For fans of the game or the stars, this is also an opportunity to take them on in some friendly poker action.
The All-In for America Celebrity Poker Tournament starts at 2 PM Eastern Time this afternoon. The event was organized as an invite-only tournament with a buy-in of $10,000, and 100% of the prize pool will be given to the charitable organization FeedingAmerica.org. ACR is also donating an additional $1 million for the cause. Affleck announced his participation on Instagram yesterday, stating, “Excited to announce that I have joined forces with @FeedingAmerica, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization, to raise money for folks who need it most.”
Americas Cardroom is first and foremost a cardroom that allows players to download a dedicated client and play from any desktop computer. In order to adjust to players’ preferences, though, ACR Poker has become more accommodating in regards with the mobile experience.
Affleck wrote on Instagram. “We’ve already raised over $1 million, with 100% of proceeds benefiting Feeding America.”

$1.2 million has already been raised through the event, with more coming. There are 75 total spots available, all available on a first-come, first-served basis, and fans can catch all the action on ACR’s Twitch channel. In addition to the big names already mentioned, Doyle Brunson, Sarah Silverman, Tobey Maguire, Jason Bateman and more are signed up to participate. While the money raised for the event will go to FeedingAmerica.org, the top three finalists will receive a trophy.
